The Lipid Clinic
The Children's Medical Center of Dayton
One Children's Plaza
Dayton, Ohio 45404
Our clinic provides comprehensive evaluation, education, and treatment options for both inpatients and outpatients, for children with severe complications due to their weight and underlying metabolic complications.
The Lipid Clinic welcomes children with lipid disorders such as: high cholesterol, high triglycerides, insulin resistance syndrome (a prediabetic condition involving high triglycerides, high blood pressure, obesity, and high fasting insulin level,) and complications of obesity.
The clinic functions only with a referral from a primary care physician.
The Lipid Clinic provides children with nutritional therapies such as meal replacements or a low carbohydrate diet. Exercise prescriptions, lifestyle changes, and extensive nutrition education are provided. The goal—weight loss or stabilization—is determined for each patient based upon the presence of complications. Under certain conditions, an inpatient program is available.
